Public Apache 2.0 toolkit for the SearchCarriers API

Carrier research that ends in an auditable next action.

Twenty-six skills, plugins, and workflows turn carrier sourcing, identity, authority, insurance, safety, qualification, monitoring, reporting, and TMS work into evidence an operator can inspect. Every result shows its source, its unknowns, its decision boundary, and who acts next.

This is a capability brief for an open-source toolkit. It is not a customer success story, an FMCSA determination, or an endorsement by SearchCarriers.

A carrier lookup is easy. A defensible operating decision is not.

Fraud, stale records, ambiguous names, different insurance requirements, low-exposure safety data, partial API failures, and local policy all meet at the same desk. The pack makes those seams visible.

  • Find the right carrierSearch by identity, geography, fleet, insurance, equipment, cargo, or lane without calling candidates approved.
  • Verify the operating factsReconcile authority, insurance, contacts, equipment, safety evidence, and related entities before a load or onboarding decision.
  • Apply your policyUse SearchCarriers qualification reports or a complete customer-owned rule set. Missing evidence never silently passes.
  • Operate at panel scaleResume bulk runs, surface stale rows, preserve successful work, format review queues, and propose TMS changes with rollback evidence.
  • Monitor honestlySeparate a configured watch from an actual event feed, then route supplied changes into bounded review work.

One path from search to operations.

Use only the stages the decision needs. Each stage can stop on ambiguity, stale evidence, access limits, or missing policy.

  1. 01

    Source

Find carriers by identity, geography, lane, cargo, equipment, fleet, insurance, or authority filters.

  2. 02

    Resolve

Confirm the legal entity, docket, USDOT, VIN, contacts, and relationships before evaluating it.

  3. 03

    Verify

Read authority, filed insurance, safety, inspection, crash, equipment, and identity-risk evidence.

  4. 04

    Qualify

Apply a named SearchCarriers qualification or a complete customer-owned policy with reproducible results.

  5. 05

    Operate

Build review queues, dashboards, reports, exports, watches, and dry-run TMS change sets.

  6. 06

    Retain

Keep source, as-of time, missing evidence, policy owner, next action, and run receipts together.

Start with the problem on the desk.

MCP plugin

Carrier Integration Operator

Pain: Integration failures become silent data drift when health, partial success, local webhook ownership, and rollback are not explicit.

Result: Run API health, resumable bulk lookup, dry-run TMS reconciliation, and local downstream webhook configuration.

MCP plugin

Carrier Intel MCP Operator

Pain: Operators need the right tool and route without manually translating API versions or treating search candidates as approved carriers.

Result: Use the Carrier Intel MCP tools for identifier resolution, filtered sourcing, profiles, relationship evidence, and fleet summaries.

MCP plugin

Carrier Decision Report Builder

Pain: Pretty reports can conceal missing evidence, stale data, and the difference between API facts and analyst judgment.

Result: Turn carrier evidence into an auditable report or export without changing the underlying verdict.

MCP plugin

Risk Engine MCP Operator

Pain: Composite scores and default thresholds can hide assumptions or be mistaken for FMCSA determinations.

Result: Use risk tools as transparent evidence and policy checks without presenting modeled scores as official ratings.

MCP plugin

Carrier Watch Operations

Pain: Teams assume a configured watch guarantees alerts even though the public API exposes watch state but no alert-feed endpoint.

Result: Manage company watch types and turn supplied change events into review work.

Operations

Resumable Carrier Batch Runner

Pain: Large panels fail partially because of rate limits, bad identifiers, or tier errors; rerunning everything wastes quota and hides which records changed.

Result: Process a carrier panel with bounded concurrency, per-record receipts, and safe restart.

Operations

Trusted Contact Consistency Check

Pain: Spoofed email, caller ID, and recently changed FMCSA contacts make a matching string insufficient proof of identity.

Result: Compare supplied contact details with carrier records and define an independent callback step.

Operations

Auditable Carrier Exporter

Pain: Exports lose field provenance, leak unnecessary contacts, or execute spreadsheet formulas when opened.

Result: Create a minimal, traceable carrier export that is safe to open and lawful to retain.

Operations

TMS Reconciliation Planner

Pain: Blind TMS overwrites destroy local fields, duplicate carriers, and turn stale API data into operational status.

Result: Produce a dry-run carrier change set with idempotent keys and rollback evidence.

Safety & compliance

Compliance Snapshot Builder

Pain: One-time onboarding checks age immediately, and teams often mistake a current snapshot for continuous monitoring.

Result: Produce a point-in-time carrier compliance snapshot and identify what must be rechecked.

Safety & compliance

Inspection Pattern Analyzer

Pain: Raw violation totals punish larger fleets and tiny samples make percentages look decisive.

Result: Find repeat inspection and violation patterns with exposure-aware evidence.

Safety & compliance

Safety Evidence Interpreter

Pain: Teams confuse FMCSA safety ratings, BASIC information, crashes, and missing data, leading to false passes and false rejections.

Result: Explain a carrier safety record without inventing a universal safety score.

Search & identity

Carrier Candidate Finder

Pain: A name-only search returns false matches, while a broad search returns candidates that cannot serve the load.

Result: Find a defensible carrier shortlist for a named company, identifier, geography, fleet need, insurance requirement, or lane.

Search & identity

Carrier Relationship Mapper

Pain: Fraud investigations often overstate weak shared attributes, and common addresses or service providers create noisy links.

Result: Map evidence of shared equipment and related company records without declaring common control.

Search & identity

Fleet Identity Reconciler

Pain: A truck at pickup may not match the approved carrier, while leased or transferred equipment can create legitimate multi-carrier history.

Result: Reconcile a VIN, the carrier claiming it, and the companies observed operating it.

Vetting & risk

Operating Authority Verifier

Pain: A valid DOT is not the same as active for-hire authority, and similar names or old dockets cause misidentification.

Result: Verify that the identified entity has the authority required for the intended job.

Vetting & risk

Carrier Identity Risk Triage

Pain: Identity theft, spoofed contacts, unauthorized USDOT use, and carrier-involved theft defeat single-source checks.

Result: Triage carrier identity anomalies and prescribe independent verification without accusing a carrier of fraud.

Vetting & risk

Insurance Filing Reconciler

Pain: Insurance minimums vary by operation, and certificates can be altered or inconsistent with filed coverage.

Result: Reconcile filed insurance evidence with the requirements for the exact entity, authority, cargo, and vehicle.

Vetting & risk

Policy Qualification Runner

Pain: Informal checklists drift between analysts, while hidden defaults create decisions no one can audit.

Result: Apply named company or customer criteria and return reproducible Pass, Review, or Fail evidence.

Composed workflow

Fleet Risk Exception Dashboard

Pain: Large panels need triage, but opaque scores and missing-data rows can send analysts to the wrong carriers.

Result: Rank a carrier panel by actionable evidence exceptions without hiding uncertainty behind a composite score.

Composed workflow

Approved TMS Change Application

Pain: Automated status writes can strand loads or overwrite local ownership fields when events are stale, duplicated, or incomplete.

Result: Apply an approved carrier change set idempotently and prove the result.

Composed workflow

Carrier Review Queue Digest

Pain: Daily summaries become misleading when they collapse missing evidence into passes or imply email delivery occurred.

Result: Turn supplied or fetched qualification results into a prioritized human review queue.

Composed workflow

Carrier Panel Compliance Dashboard

Pain: A green dashboard can hide old snapshots, low-exposure carriers, and failed API calls.

Result: Build an as-of panel dashboard that exposes stale, missing, and high-priority evidence.

Composed workflow

Insurance Change Review

Pain: A cancellation notice may be future-dated, replaced, stale, or unrelated to the required coverage, while false alarms disrupt loads.

Result: Evaluate a supplied insurance change or current filing and create a bounded response.

Composed workflow

Carrier Event Slack Formatter

Pain: Untrusted event payloads and invented alert feeds create false urgency or expose webhook secrets.

Result: Validate and format a supplied carrier-change event for Slack delivery.

Composed workflow

Bulk Carrier Qualification Pipeline

Pain: A single bad row or rate limit should not invalidate hundreds of carrier decisions, and default criteria should not be invented.

Result: Run named policy qualification across a carrier list with restartable evidence.

Evidence in. Named policy around it. Human authority at the end.

SearchCarriers supplies research evidence. The skills preserve that evidence and make operational decisions reproducible without upgrading a model, a missing field, or a search result into official truth.

The tools can

  • Resolve identifiers and compare records
  • Expose missing, stale, or partial evidence
  • Apply an explicit policy or upstream qualification
  • Produce review work, reports, exports, and dry runs

The tools do not

  • Create an official FMCSA safety rating
  • Guarantee a carrier, person, load, or transaction
  • Invent customer thresholds or approve a carrier by default
  • Support employment, credit, housing, insurance, or other FCRA-regulated eligibility decisions

The open-source pack is the base. Implementation is the productizable layer.

No public price or customer claim is attached yet. These are the clean commercial shapes the current architecture supports.

  1. 01
    Operator setup

Install the plugins, connect the account, choose the relevant workflows, and train the team on evidence boundaries.

  2. 02
    Policy implementation

Translate a customer's documented carrier rules into explicit Pass, Review, and Fail evidence without hidden defaults.

  3. 03
    TMS and workflow integration

Connect the evidence path to carrier master data, review queues, Slack, reports, exports, and approved change application.

  4. 04
    Managed operations layer

Run scheduled panels, stale-data reviews, exception dashboards, and controlled change follow-up with retained receipts.

Inspect the evidence behind the positioning.

Have a carrier decision that still lives in spreadsheets and tribal knowledge?

Bring the policy, the operating system it has to reach, and the evidence your team trusts. We can map the shortest defensible path from API response to owned action.
